Buakao Banchamek is a living legend, but that doesn't mean he isn't impressed by the new generation of athletes. At the top of his list is ONE Championship star Stamp Fairtex. In a video explaining his historic victory over Ham So Hee, Buakao expressed his admiration for the three-sport queen (h/t Combat Press).
“Stamp has won many belts, including ONE Kickboxing and Muay Thai.” [world titles]. Whether it's MMA, Muay Thai, or kickboxing, she's a master at all three.if you ask me [what makes Stamp great], it's a matter of adaptability because the regulations are different. But she definitely gets it,” Buakor said.
Stamp's title win was a highlight, giving the talented Korean an undisputed title. It was the culmination of Stamp's goals since its arrival on the world stage. Buakaw was impressed by his historic feat as the Thai legend admitted it was something he would never be able to achieve.
“Even I couldn't do that. [attempt being a world champion in MMA, Muay Thai, and kickboxing]. So I had to give it to her. Congratulations to her. I hope she continues her good work,” said the Thai star.
While Stamp is at the top of the atomweight MMA world, he still has his sights set on the goal of wearing three titles at the same time. As such, a future return date with ONE Atomweight Muay Thai World Champion Alicia Helen Rodriguez has intrigued the talented Thai athlete. It's a match that could very well happen in 2024.
Buakao has little doubt that Stamp can regain the batting throne. The striking icon said she believes she is still part of the elite. This high praise is not something to be taken lightly and shows just how beloved Stamp is among her peers and her devoted fans.
“Stamp is one of the best strikers that I look at and actually look up to. She’s very tough. The way she fights is on point. She is in the top ranks among female strikers,” Buakor said.
