Photos and videos of the singers from the event were all over social media, including a glimpse of fans holding the Olympic torch at the Louvre as they waited for the BTS band members.
Jin's Torch Relay
Jin left for France on Thursday to take part in the torch relay that has been running in the country for more than two months. It wasn't clear why the singer would take part in the torch relay, but it likely has to do with BTS's global popularity and the group's message of “love yourself.”
Jin, 31, completed his mandatory military service last month, becoming the first member of BTS to do so. During the torch relay, Jin wore a white jersey while carrying the Olympic torch.
“Look how many police officers are guarding him. He is truly a national (South Korea) treasure,” wrote one X fan. Another tweeted, “So proud of you Jin…”
The torch arrived in Paris on Bastille Day Sunday, a French national holiday commemorating the storming of the Bastille prison during the French Revolution. After arriving, the torch will tour various Paris sites until Monday, when it will return to the countryside and then return to Paris for the opening ceremony on July 26.
More about Sunday's ceremony
On Sunday, France's national holiday, Paris welcomed a special guest: the Olympic torch, which lit up a spectacular Bastille Day military parade.
Just 11 days before the French capital opens its tightly guarded Summer Olympics, the torch relay joined thousands of soldiers, sailors, rescuers and medical workers who marched through Paris under roaring fighter jets, the day concluding with an Olympic-themed light show at the Eiffel Tower.
