Jin will represent his country at the 2024 Olympics!
The BTS superstar will be South Korea's torchbearer in the Paris 2024 Olympic torch relay, it was announced on Tuesday (July 2). Details have yet to be revealed, but according to a press release, Jin's relay aims to spread messages of “harmony” and “peace.”
The Olympic Torch Relay takes place before each event, carrying the Olympic Flame from Olympia, Greece, through various countries to that year's Olympic venue. The relay first took place at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin.
Jin recently completed his military service and celebrated the special moment by reuniting with his BTS bandmates, who were given time off to mark the milestone.
The Paris Summer Olympics kick off on July 26th, and it was announced earlier this year that Snoop Dogg would be joining the NBC team as a reporter for this summer's Olympics, doing “regular reports” on the Olympic primetime show.
“I grew up watching the Olympics and I'm excited to watch these incredible athletes do their best in Paris. It's a celebration of skill, dedication and the pursuit of greatness,” Snoop said in a statement at the time of the announcement. “There will be some incredible competition and of course I'll be bringing my own Snoop style. It will be the most epic Olympics in history, so tune in and tune in. Let's elevate these games, celebrate, make them unforgettable, outdo our competitors and may the best shine like gold. Peace and Olympic love, you know?”
The Paris Games are scheduled to run from July 26 to August 11. NBC and its streaming service Peacock will broadcast the Olympics.
