Al Gomez, owner of Gomez Boxing Club, has come a long way since starting his business.
Gomez was always interested in boxing, but pursued it at a later age than his older brother Julio Gomez. Their father also boxed, which is probably the biggest reason why they both love boxing.
“We all got through it and found our way,” Gomez said. “I am more [into] It's a business. ”
Gomez started the business about seven years ago, even though he didn't have a physical location. At that point, he recalled, it was more of a community than a building. In fact, this physical location is very new, only four months old. Gomez trained his regular customers, including his brother, who is a professional boxer, in his garage beforehand.
From this, it seems that the brothers like boxing more and more, but it means that the brothers spend a lot of time on it.
“
For my family, boxing is like church. It's in our blood and lifestyle.
— Al Gomez, owner of Gomez Boxing Club
Located just 5 minutes from Gainesville Square, we're proud of our home. Gomez and his brothers are not originally from the city, but they love representing it. Gomez said they chose the location because of the people there, and “we want to believe they love us too.”
However, this expression is not limited to patronizing the economy. Wherever Gomez's younger brother, the “Notorious Julio Cesar Gomez,” goes, the city of Gainesville is no different. This includes the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, the location of his next fight. The match will take place on March 30th.
The two brothers built a gym around Julio Gomez. However, this does not mean that the feature is unique to him. In fact, quite the opposite is true. The brothers' hope is to focus on training champions in the gym and produce more professionals like Julio Gomez.
The gym is open Monday through Friday from 7am to 10pm and Saturdays from 10am to 8pm. Class hours range from morning to afternoon to evening. Their programs include a 4-mile run club, kids classes, and private sessions.
Prices may vary, but Brothers Gym offers a week of free classes for those who want to experience the art of boxing before committing.
