In the co-main event, IBO World Super Middleweight Champion Osry Iglesias knocked out Evgeny Shvedenko in the first round.
In the main event, Steven “Bam Bam” Butler (34-5-1 (28), No. 160) of Montreal, Quebec, Canada was defeated by Patrice Volney (19-1 (13), No. 159.2) of Montreal, Quebec, Canada in a knockout bout at 2 minutes, 40 seconds into the ninth round of a scheduled 10-round WBC French-language title bout.
Butler was in control until the final 20 seconds of the first round, when Volney landed six consecutive punches that looked like they might take the round.
The second round was closely fought, with the taller Volney landing effective jabs against the aggressive Butler. The third and fourth rounds were a back-and-forth affair, with Volney rocking Butler late in the fourth round and then landing a right uppercut in the final minute that knocked Butler's head back.
In the fifth round, Butler continued to attack Volney until he was warned by referee Alain Villeneuve, and the round ended closely again when Butler landed a right punch to Volney's jaw.
In the sixth round, as in the previous rounds, Volney was the stronger of the two to finish. In the seventh round, the fight picked up steam as Volney overpowered Butler, who again received a warning for using his forearm and developed swelling under his right eye. In the eighth round, Butler landed a low blow on the bell and Volney took the lead.
In the ninth round, Volney repeatedly tormented Butler, landing six punches before referee Villeneuve called the bout off. Butler had pushed Volney, which may have led to a premature stoppage, but Butler struggled.
