WBC World Super Flyweight Champion Juan “El Gallo” Estrada was upset when he was stopped at the end of the seventh round by IBF and WBO World Flyweight Champion Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez.
In the main event, WBC World Super Flyweight Champion Juan “El Gallo” Estrada (44-4, (28)) lost his title after being defeated by southpaw IBF and WBO flyweight champion Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez (19-0, (12)) at the end of the seventh round of a scheduled 12-round bout.
In the first two rounds, the southpaw Rodriguez was overwhelmed by Estrada's counterattacks, leaving Estrada with a swollen left eye by the end of each round, and in the third round, Rodriguez hurt Estrada with a right punch to the jaw in the first minute.
In the fourth round, Rodriguez landed a low punch, drawing a warning from referee Chris Flores, and with 30 seconds left, Rodriguez landed a left punch and then two more to the jaw, sending Estrada down, but Flores called the count of eight.
In the fifth round, Rodriguez overpowered Estrada, who ended the round with a furious attack. 15 seconds into the sixth round, Estrada landed a right punch to the jaw, taking Rodriguez down and earning an eight-count from referee Flores. Rodriguez fought back well, and both fighters put in some spectacular performances.
In the seventh round, Rodriguez landed a powerful left punch to Estrada's stomach, sending him down as determined by referee Flores.
In the co-main event, former World Flyweight Champion “Showtime” Sonny Edwards (21-1 (4)) defeated former IBF World Flyweight Champion Adrian “Gatito” Curiel (24-6-1 (5)) by technical decision in the 12th round.
In the first three rounds, Curiel was on the offensive, but Edwards fought back well, winning all three rounds. In the fourth round, Edwards countered Curiel with his hands on his sides.
In the sixth round, Edwards fought back against Curiel as he retreated, their heads clashing and Curiel's head opened a severe cut on Edwards' forehead above his right eye.
Edwards overpowered Curiel in the seventh round, but was still visibly bleeding, and a ring doctor examined Edwards' cut after the round.
In the eighth round, Edwards was hitting Curiel almost consistently and showing considerable courage, so referee Mark Nelson called for the ring doctor, who called a halt to the bout.
The scores were 90-82, 88-84, and 87-85.
WBC World Super Bantamweight Champion Yamilez “Yaymi” Mercado (24-3 (5)) defeated Ramla Ali 9-2 (2) in two 10-round bouts.
In the first five rounds, Ali was on the offensive, but he fought back and Mercado landed more hits than Ali. In the ninth round, referee Thomas Taylor warned both fighters for holding. Mercado landed more hits than Ali in most rounds.
There were moments in the tenth and final round that could have turned the tide for either fighter, but Mercado dominated Ali.
The scores were 98-93, 97-93, 98-93.
Danny Barrios, 15-1 (5), #121, lost by majority decision in 10 rounds to WBC Continental Americas super bantamweight champion Arturo “Popoca” Cardenas, 14-0-1 (8).
The referee was Mark Nelson and the scores were 97-93, 96-94, 95-95.
Bantamweight Gabriel “Maestro” Murata (12-0, 6) defeated southpaw Carlos “Divino” Fontes (23-4-1, 19) in a strong eight-round contest.
Fontes had the more aggressive side in the first round, but Muratalla jarred him with a right hand to the jaw in the closing seconds, and in the final minute of the second, Muratalla forced a bloody nose from the then-flying Fontes.
In the third round, Murata appeared to hurt Fontes with a right to the body in the first minute, but Fontes continued to attack, but Murata landed the more powerful punches.
Murata again bloodied Fontes' nose in the fourth round, but Fontes, though fired up, was outgunned.
In the fifth round, Muratalla continued to dominate Fontes. In the seventh round, Muratalla continued to dominate Fontes in a game called.
In the eighth and final round, Fontes put up a good fight against Murata.
The scores were 79-73, 78-74, 77-75.
Welterweight southpaw Fabian Rojo (9-0 (7)) stopped Daniel Gonzalez (5-2 (2)) 1 minute, 13 seconds into the second of a scheduled six-round bout.
In the first round, Rojo dropped Gonzalez with a left punch to the jaw, earning an eight-count from referee Wes Melton, and he did enough to win the round.
In the second round, Rojo knocked Gonzalez down a second time for an eight-count, then Rojo pounced on Gonzalez and knocked him down a third time before referee Melton called the bout off.
Super lightweight Leonardo Rubalcaba (7-0, 3) defeated William Flenoy (3-3-1, 1) in six rounds.
Rubacalva had a slight advantage in the first three rounds, and in the fourth round, Rubacalva continued his offensive stance.
In the fifth round, Rubalcaba again performed well. In the sixth and final round, the fight was close and it seemed that Rubalcaba had the advantage.
The referee was Thomas Taylor, with the scores 60-54 and 59-55 twice.
