The 55-year-old former boxer broke the devastating news to his followers in an emotional Instagram post.
“Unfortunately, my son DeAndre died by suicide on Saturday,” Jones wrote. “I am so grateful that God allowed me to come home Friday night to spend the last night of my son's life with my family.”
Jones expressed her sadness and urged people to seek help during difficult times. “I know a lot of people are going through difficult times right now, but it's not worth taking your own life,” she wrote. “It is God who gives life, and it should be God who takes it.”
The grieving father asked for his family's privacy during this difficult time, and ended his statement with gratitude for the support they have received: “Please respect our privacy as my family and I navigate this loss. Thank you for all your love and support.”
DeAndre is one of three children born to Roy Jr. and his wife Natlin Jones. The couple also have two sons together, Roy III and DeShawn Jones.
