ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (July 3, 2024) – Boxing Insider Promotions is known for producing competitive fights where anything can happen. Following the huge success of their inaugural show on May 11 at the Tropicana Atlantic City, Boxing Insider Promotions will be returning on Friday, July 26.
Boxing Insider Promotions, led by Atlantic City native and Boxing Insider CEO Larry Goldberg, is set to put on the best top-to-bottom card ever and present the most entertaining boxing show on the famed Boardwalk this summer. In fact, the July 26 main event will be an eight-round main event featuring world-ranked heavyweight and Swedish favorite Otto Wallin (26-2, 14 KOs), who has fought some of the best in the world and is working his way up the ladder to a world title shot.
Wallin, ranked 11th by the International Boxing Federation (IBF) and 16th by the World Boxing Council (WBC), currently resides in New York and trains under former three-division world champion Joey Gamache. His only professional losses came against former world heavyweight champions Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua. Given recent events, a couple of impressive wins could be all he needs to give him a shot at a title shot.
His opponent in the July 26 bout will be “Godzilla” Onoriode Ewuariemme (20-4, 19 KOs), a 6-foot-7 hulking hunk from Warri, Nigeria. He is an Olympian who represented Nigeria as a super heavyweight at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He is also a former WBF Intercontinental champion and boasts an astounding 95 percent KO rate in his victories.
Returning to the show will be junior middleweight Justin Figueroa (9-0, 7 KOs), also known as “Mr. Atlantic City,” who knocked out Antonio Armas in the fourth round on May 11 at The Trop. Figueroa is well known locally not only for his boxing, but also for his performances in football at Holy Spirit High School and is a member of the prestigious Atlantic City Beach Patrol, the oldest professional lifeguard force in the United States. Another thing he's becoming known for are his post-fight celebrations, which include doing the “worm” across the ring.
Jolene Mizzone, president of Fighters First Management, which represents Wallin and Figueroa, said, “This is our second time working with Boxing Insider and from a promotional business standpoint, we couldn't be happier working with them. Larry and his staff really promote boxing events like it was the 1980s and 1990s, which is very refreshing.”
Local boxing fans who are even remotely familiar with Atlantic City boxing will remember one of the hometown heroes, Bruce Seldon. He was the World Boxing Association (WBA) World Heavyweight Champion in 1995. Now it's time for the next generation to take over. His son, Bruce Seldon Jr. (1-0, 1 KO) will compete in a four-round heavyweight bout. A former football star at Absegami High School, Seldon turned pro on June 15th with a first-round knockout of Terrick Maven.
Action-packed knockout artist Jacob Solis (4-0, 4 KOs) will make his return with a win over Brandon Martinez at The Trop on May 11. A huge favorite in both New York and Atlantic City, Solis has not taken any opponent longer than two rounds.
In a four-round junior welterweight bout, Brooklyn’s Jason Castanon (1-0, 1 KO), who made his pro debut with a stoppage win over Luis Rivera Reyes on a Boxing Insider card in New York on March 7, will face Alveontay Dukes (2-0), a former U.S. Junior Olympic finalist who defeated Beni Begy in a hard-fought bout at Sony Hall in New York in December.
And fans can come to the show and meet Micky Ward, the colorful and legendary fighter who fought 22 times in Atlantic City, including two epic fights with Arturo Gatti.
He and other AC fans will be at The Trop for a special four-round super middleweight bout, where Marco “El Tiburon” Romero (1-0, 1 KO), from Olathe, Kansas, will show off the moves that have made him a legendary amateur. Indeed, the 19-year-old has won 136 of his 141 amateur fights, racking up an impressive list of accolades including five Ringside World Championships, six National Silver Gloves, three National Junior Olympics and, most prestigiously, two national titles in the past year. Not only has he won the U.S. Championship, he also won the National Golden Gloves on May 18th and, less than a month later, made his pro debut, knocking out Jonathan Gailey in two rounds on June 15th.
Further updates regarding the card will be coming soon.
Cards are subject to change.
In conjunction with the show, Boxing Insider will be making a donation to Atlantic City PAL, the only amateur boxing program currently operating in Atlantic City.
Tickets are priced at $60, $75, $120, $150, $200 and $300 and can be purchased through TicketMaster: https://www.ticketmaster.com/boxinginsider-live-professional-boxing-atlantic-city-new-jersey-07-26-2024/event/020060CD00CE6AFA.
