Tyson faces Paul in November in his first professional fight since 2005, with the latest polls showing the boxing legend is likely to win by knockout.
Boxing fans are backing Mike Tyson to knock out Jake Paul in a new poll ahead of the controversial bout.
Tyson was scheduled to face social media sensation Paul on July 20, but the bout was postponed to November 15 after “Iron Mike” suffered a recurrence of a stomach ulcer while on a flight. The professional-sanctioned bout will be played under the same rules as the original venue, at AT&T Stadium in Texas.
A new poll with over 270,000 responses showed an overwhelming 72% of fans expect Tyson to knock out Paul. 11% of voters think Tyson will beat Paul on points, and 10% expect Paul to win on scorecards. Only 6% think Paul will stop Tyson for his seventh career knockout.
Paul showed his class by refusing to speak ill of Tyson for cancelling his original plans and wishing the 58-year-old a speedy recovery from a health scare. Tyson, who has not competed professionally since 2005, plans to resume light training in the coming weeks and is confident he can be the first man to knock out Paul.
“We had to postpone the fight, but he will resume training shortly. I would like to thank the medical staff who worked with him, MVP, Netflix and AT&T Stadium for working hard to find the best rescheduled date for all involved. A new date has been set, but no matter when we fight, the result will be the same – Jake Paul will get knocked out,” he said.
This will be Paul's 10th professional fight against Tyson, having only previously tasted defeat when he faced Love Island star Tommy Fury in February last year. “The Troublemaker” has knocked out little-known boxers Andre August and Ryan Boland in his previous two bouts, and has warned Tyson: “New date, same place, same fate.”
The undercard of this mega event will feature a highly anticipated rematch between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano, two years after their award-winning first bout, while the card will also see former UFC title challenger Darren Till take on Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, despite Paul turning down the Liverpudlian's offer to take Tyson's place.
