On Wednesday, prior to the start of the Hockey East Tournament, the Eagles were named to the 2023-2024 Pro Ambitions All-Rookie Team by Hockey East, as well as receiving six other regular season awards.
Freshmen Ryan Leonard, Gabe Perreault, Will Smith and Jacob Fowler were all named to the All-Rookie team, with Leonard and Perreault being unanimous selections. As we know, all four have had great freshman seasons thus far and are a big reason why Boston College enters the postseason ranked No. 1 in the conference and NCAA.
Smith leads the nation in scoring with 57 points in 34 games and 43 points in 24 games in the Hockey East Conference. Perreault has 50 points in 30 games for Hockey East and 36 points in 20 games for Hockey East, while Leonard has 48 points in 34 games and 35 points in 24 games for Hockey East. Leonard ranks third in the league in points, while Smith and Perreault rank first and third in assists, respectively.
Fowler leads all Hockey East goaltenders with 19 conference wins and 26 overall wins, and leads the league with a .925 save percentage and a .924 overall save percentage.
Senior captain Eamonn Powell has been named one of the recipients of the Len Cegulski Sportsmanship Award, given to players who demonstrate outstanding conduct and sportsmanship both on and off the ice. Powell has been a great leader for a young team this season and is having a strong year on the ice.
The Eagles also had a pair of Hockey East statistical award runners-up. Smith was the runner-up for the Hockey East Leading Scorer Award, and sophomore Cutter Gauthier was the runner-up for the Hockey East Three Star Award.
Hockey East will announce its 2023-24 All-Star team on Friday, March 15th, followed by the finalists for Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Coach of the Year awards on Monday, March 18th, where the Eagles will win more accolades.
Congratulations everyone!
