Shit. This should have been predicted based on various reports, but now it's effectively official. NBA returns to NBC and Amazon. it's awful. Is Roundball Rock the best theme song? Indeed, this song definitely reminds us of the greatest era we lived in, the 90's. But this is not worth losing.
I don't care if the NBA gets more money. It has no effect on my life. My life is affected by having to train my brain that the NBA is now on a different channel. It sucks. I'm a guy of tradition. I know that certain games are going to be on certain channels on certain days, so I'm going to be there right away. It's all about comfort zones, and now we're losing what is probably the most comfortable television we have. Inside the NBA is not great because you can get detailed analysis, but it's available everywhere. It's great because it's four friends sitting around talking shit while busting the ball. That's what I want. I don't want someone to talk about how players are taking advantage of the Spanish pick-and-roll.
And we already know that this group will disband. Ernie Johnson remains with TNT. He's the glue guy here. He can move Berkeley into anything and he'll be great, but it's Ernie who holds the whole show together. I always say he's the old guy who babysits on the weekends and tries to keep everyone calm, but gets caught up and has way too much fun. He's one of those players and when he starts destroying the ball, the show gets even better.
I would argue with anyone that this is the funniest moment in television history.
Better than any sitcom or SNL skit. Chuck and Shack dying laughing in front of the police should be played at least once a month. Even worse? The following tweet was made yesterday.
I don't know if it's because I'm getting older or what, but having to go to Amazon to watch the NBA sucks. TNT had a great lineup, great commentators, everything. It's not worth trading it for Roundball Rock on NBC.
