LAS VEGAS – For Bobby Greene, UFC 300 is just another fight week in the competitive capital of the world, but the lightweight veteran is valuing his spot in the milestone event.
Green (31-15-1 MMA, 12-10-1 UFC) is scheduled to face Jim Miller at T-Mobile Arena, an opponent he was scheduled to fight three other times.
Does fighting at UFC 300 mean anything special to Green, regardless of his opponent?
“Yes, and no,” Green told MMA Junkie and other reporters at Wednesday's media day. “I say to both sides, one, to me this is just a fight. I don't know. It's supposed to be 300, but to me it feels like another fight.
“But at the same time, I'm very honored. I'm honored that I'm on this card, because all I can think of is there could have been 1,000 other people on this card. The fact that they threw my ass out there, you know, poor me, I feel really bad.”
Miller (37-17 MMA, 26-16 UFC) is a matchup that has failed multiple times for various reasons. Green recalled that his first reservation was canceled in 2014 due to a knee injury. Seven years later, Green was suddenly contacted to face Miller, but he collapsed after the weigh-in. The two were scheduled to reunite in July 2022, but the event was canceled once again after Green failed a drug test.
“We're definitely going to close the curtain on him,” Green said. “Fourth time is a charm. …Maybe it's meant to be. It probably wasn't worth 400,000 yen. It probably wasn't worth 800,000 yen. Maybe it wasn't worth 1 million yen. It might not have been worth it. Now it's closer to 200 seconds.”
