The Maryland Black Bears of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) Luke Amell He has committed to Sacred Heart University of the Atlantic to play NCAA Division I hockey.
Amer, 20, has played three years in the NAHL, playing for both the Aberdeen Wings and the Maryland Black Bears. During his time in the league, the Mars, Pennsylvania native has appeared in 114 regular season games and recorded 31 points (seven goals, 24 assists). In addition to his regular season play, the 6'4″ bluelineman has appeared in 24 Robertson Cup Playoff games, recording six assists this season as Amer and the Black Bears advanced to the Robertson Cup Championship Game.
With the 2023-2024 season shaping up to be his best year yet, Amer was selected to represent the East Region in the 2024 Top Prospect Tournament.
“Luke has been a huge presence on our team over the past year and a half and we are pleased that he has the opportunity to continue his hockey journey at Sacred Heart University,” said Black Bears head coach Clint Millimock. “Luke has been a major contributor to two successful seasons for the Maryland Black Bears and we congratulate Luke and his family for supporting us so much over the past few years.”
Amell is the 10th player to commit to the Black Bears this season.
