He may not be everyone's favourite fighter, but light heavyweight prospect Ben Whittaker remains one to watch as he takes on unbeaten Nigerian Eworitz Ezra Alenieka in just his eighth professional bout on June 15 at Selhurst Park in London.
The 10-round bout will take place on the undercard of the WBO cruiserweight title fight between Chris “Biram” Smith and Richard Liakporhe, which will be broadcast in the United States on Peacock.
Whittaker (7-0, 6 KOs) won a silver medal representing Great Britain at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He turned professional in July 2022 and has been wowing audiences across the country with his impressive skill, speed, power and flashy performances. High expectations are high for the charismatic Brit, who resembles the great featherweight prince Naseem Hamed in his talents.
Arenieke (12-0, 10 KOs) has plenty of professional experience and a hard punch, but a closer look at his resume shows he has a winning record against only three of his 12 opponents and has bounced between super middleweight and light heavyweight. Arenieke is much smaller than Whittaker and was taller than him at the weigh-in before the two began their exchange of blows.
Sporting News will provide detailed coverage of this fight and the rest of the card.
