Belal Muhammad has encouraged former UFC interim welterweight champion Colby Covington to retire from mixed martial arts.
Covington (17-4 MMA) last fought in a loss to Leon Edwards at UFC 296 in December 2023. The 36-year-old “Chaos” is 3-3 in his last six fights inside the Octagon.
Muhammad shared his thoughts on Covington on The Schmo:
“Let's be honest here: Colby Covington needs to retire. He literally has nothing left.”
Belal Muhammad continued without hesitation:
“He's still trying to connect his glory days of three or four years ago, when everybody thought he was good, and now I think everybody realizes he's no good. And now I think he's just trying to figure out who he's going to beat up next and get in front of a microphone and say shit.”
Finally, the 36-year-old compared Colby Covington to former middleweight champion Sean Strickland (via MMAMania ).
“He's like Sean Strickland. No one cares what he has to say because he doesn't have the belt anymore.”
Belal Muhammad (23-3 MMA) is preparing to face current UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards (22-3 MMA) at UFC 304, which will be held at Co-op Live in Manchester, England on Saturday, July 27.
The two fighters faced off in March 2021, with the bout ending in a no contest due to an accidental eye poke.
What do you think about the “Remember The Name” comments regarding Covington? Do you agree that “Chaos” should hang up the gloves?
Will you be watching Saturday night? Do you think Muhammad can dethrone Edwards?
