Over a year ago, Albertin Montoya was initially hired by Bay FC as a consultant, tasked with assisting the club in its search for a permanent head coach. After four months of interviewing candidates and making staffing recommendations, Montoya received a phone call from the club with a surprising request. He was asked to coach the team.
“I wasn't ready,” Montoya said. equalizer. “It actually took me a few days, but in the end I love coaching at all levels.”

Montoya's resume includes stints at various levels with the Cyber Rays of the Women's United Soccer Association, FC Gold Pride of women's professional soccer, the predecessor to the NWSL, and the California Storm, which is now part of the USL network. Includes coaching work.
At the collegiate level, Montoya coached at both Stanford University and Santa Clara University, while also coaching youth-level teams. Montoya's typical workday starts at 3 a.m. and ends at 10 p.m., followed by games on the weekends.
