On Saturday night, undefeated Devin Haney takes on Ryan Garcia for the WBC super lightweight title at Barclays Center, the latest in a series of high-profile bouts to take place at the Brooklyn arena.
Since its inception in 2012, some of the sport's biggest names have fought at Barclays, including Deontay Wilder, Miguel Cotto, Danny Garcia, Adrien Broner and Amanda Serrano. Here are some of the biggest match events at the arena.
October 20, 2012: Less than a month after the building's opening, boxing made its debut at Barclays Center, hosting four world title fights. In the main event, Danny Garcia stopped Erik Morales in the fourth round of the WBA-WBC junior welterweight title fight. It will be Morales' final game of his Hall of Fame career. Devon Alexander, Paulie Malignaggi and Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin also won title matches.
June 14, 2014: Long Island's Chris Algieri overcame two knockdowns to win the WBO super lightweight title over Ruslan Provodnikov by split decision. Seanie Monaghan of Long Beach wins by 10 round decision on the undercard.
June 6, 2015: Just hours after American Pharoah completed his horse racing triple crown at nearby Belmont Park, Hall of Fame boxer Miguel Cotto made his only appearance at Barclays, stopping Daniel Zeal in four rounds to win the WBC middleweight title. retained the title.
December 5, 2015: In an all-Brooklyn battle, Danny Jacobs stunned Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin with a first-round knockout to retain the WBA middleweight title. Long Islanders Chris Algieri and Joe Smith Jr. won on the undercard.
March 4, 2017: Keith Thurman defeats Danny Garcia by split decision in a WBA-WBC welterweight title unification match.
July 13, 2017: Floyd Mayweather Jr. has never fought at Barclays, but he held a press conference with Conor McGregor at the venue to promote the fight. Thousands of fans gathered to watch the event as Mayweather took to the stage draped in an Irish flag.
July 29, 2017: In a highly anticipated bout, current lightweight champion Mikey Garcia moves up to super lightweight and easily defeats Adrien Broner by unanimous decision. Olympic gold medalist Katie Taylor won on the undercard.
March 3, 2018: In a thrilling battle, WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder stops Luis Ortiz to retain his title. On the undercard, Lindenhurst's Alicia Napoleon defeated Femke Hermans to win the WBC super middleweight belt. Patrick Day of Freeport wins by 10 round decision.
September 8, 2018: In an action-packed fight, Shawn Porter defeated Danny Garcia by unanimous decision to win the vacant WBC welterweight title. On the undercard, Amanda Serrano defeated Yamilia Reynoso to win her WBO junior welterweight title. This gave her world titles in six different weight classes.
May 28, 2022: Gervonta Davis stopped Rolando Romero in six rounds to retain the WBA lightweight title.
