BALTIMORE, MD (April 22, 2024) – Baltimore Boxing Promotions, led by Jake Smith, will honor late amateur boxer Davey Steck Jr. on its next card on Saturday, May 11th. .
Steck Jr., a graduate of Perry Hall High School in Baltimore, passed away on April 14th. Baltimore Boxing Promotions has an honorary ten count and will host a 50-50 fight, with proceeds going to Steck Jr.'s family. Steck Jr. was scheduled to fight on May 11th.
“David's untimely death is extremely sad and a huge blow to the community,” said Smith, a former fighter who has promoted professional and amateur boxing programs for more than 30 years. “He was a very kind young man and leaves behind two loving parents, a brother, a fiancée and many friends.”
The May 11 card includes more than 10 Olympic-style matches and will be held at the Carroll County AG Center in Westminster, Maryland. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with the first game scheduled for 7:15 p.m. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit Baltimoreboxing.com.
