The Bahamas may be a small island nation, but it's certainly blessed with basketball talent.
This year, the team will send several NBA players to the FIBA Olympic Qualifiers in pursuit of a spot at the Paris Olympics in 2024. Former No. 1 overall pick Deandre Ayton, who averaged 16.7 points and 11.1 rebounds per game for the Trail Blazers last season, will be guarding the paint in the Bahamas.

When are the FIBA Olympic Qualifiers?
- date: July 2 (Tue) – July 7 (Sun)
Countries participating in the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament (OQT) will begin group play this week, with the top two teams from each group then competing in the semi-finals. The winners of the semi-finals will then meet in the final round to secure a spot in the Paris Olympics.
Eight men's basketball teams have already qualified for the Olympics. The four OQTs will be the “last chance” for other teams to qualify. The four OQT winners (Greece, Latvia, Puerto Rico, and Spain) will join the eight teams already scheduled to compete in Paris.
Bahamas schedule for FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament
The Bahamas are in Group B in the Spain OQT along with Finland and Poland. If they advance to the semifinals, they will face the winner of Group A, which consists of Angola, Lebanon and Spain.
