“I am very excited and looking forward to participating in the development camp.” Adeniye said. “I'm grateful for the opportunities and growth Adrian College has given me. I'm also grateful to be the first person from the program to accomplish this, but I hope this experience opens the door for others to have the same opportunities.”
Adeniye began his collegiate career at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (NCAA DI), appearing in 21 games during his freshman season before transferring to Adrian College. At Adrian, he played in 84 games and totaled four goals and 19 assists as a defenseman. Adeniye was also a member of the 2022 National Championship team, the 2023 National Runner-Up team and the most recent 2024 National Semifinalist team.
“Ayo has worked extremely hard for this opportunity.” “We're excited to be a part of it,” said Adam Klug, head coach of the Adrian University NCAA men's hockey team. “From day one at Adrian, he has been process and goal-oriented, and to be able to achieve this goal is fantastic for him. The opportunity to get on the ice with an NHL organization is great for Ayo, Adrian College and Division III hockey.”
The Adrian College men's hockey team is known for signing professional contracts after their time with the Bulldogs. In the history of the program, 43 graduates from the Adrian College men's hockey team have signed professional contracts. Four members of the 2023-24 team have already signed professional contracts, with two more expected to sign professional contracts by the end of the summer.
