Former Australian boxing world champion Billy Dib has opened up about the heated night he spent with American rapper 50 Cent and why it couldn't have happened at a worse time.
Dib was one of 50 Cent's first customers when he launched his boxing promotion company in July 2012, but the business went bankrupt and the Australian claims he owes more than $1 million. As a result, the relationship deteriorated.
A devout Muslim who recently beat cancer, he talked about his craziest night out with the rapper and said it would “challenge the strength of many of his followers.”
“So we jumped in his Lamborghini,” Dibb told the audience at the lecture.
“I'm riding in a Lamborghini with him.” [50 Cent], my brother is behind him in a Ferrari. There's Bentley.
“When we arrived at this location, it was like a factory warehouse and every conceivable supercar was outside this factory warehouse.
“Then 50 Cent opened the trunk of his car and pulled out a bag. I was standing next to him and a gun fell out. Two watches completely covered in diamonds and a wad of money. Three, it was like a pile of money.'' ”
Dib said the rapper offered him a large sum of cash, but he was initially wary because he had previously been warned that if he accepted a gift, it would become “his own.” He explained that he would need it soon.
The group then entered the building, which turned out to be a huge strip club.
“I'm telling you an epic story,” Dib explained.
“And there are women everywhere, and they’re noisy. And let me tell you something: today is the first day of Ramadan.
“I said on the plane, God, please make this trip a success, and 1711334781 I'm at a strip joint.
It was Dib's first time going to a strip club, and he and his brother, who are strict Muslims, decided they had a “problem” and needed to leave quickly.
Dib said 50 Cent had just paid $10,000 for the table and alcohol had been ordered.
“And I have this money, and he's going to 'throw the money'” [at the women].
“I was like, 'Brother, I don't throw money,' and I said one of the biggest sins is throwing money. I don't do that.
“My brother said, '50 years old, look, we're leaving here. We're not coming to a place like this, we're Muslims.'
Dib explained that 50 Cent reluctantly agreed to leave the club with him and his brother.
However, as they were walking out, a stripper approached the rapper and asked where he was going.
“He said, 'Hey, baby, you're lucky because it's Ramadan,'” Dib laughed.
