The U.S. men's basketball team has a ton of talented players available this summer at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. With 12 team members having a combined 78 All-Star appearances, it won't be an easy task for head coach Steve Kerr and the rest of the U.S. coaching staff to choose which five players to put on the court as the team's starting five.
Lakers guard Austin Reeves was asked who his starting five will be ahead of the Olympics, which begin on July 26. He chose teammates LeBron James and Anthony Davis as his first two, followed by “obviously” Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry as his third pick. He rounded out his starting group with Phoenix Suns' Devin Booker and Philadelphia 76ers' Joel Embiid, according to CBS Sports.
Four of Reeves' five selections were part of the U.S. starting five in the friendly against Canada. James, Booker, Embiid, Curry and Jrue Holiday were in the starting five and the U.S. won 86-72 against Canada.
Team USA has four more exhibition games before the Olympics begin, which will provide further insight into which players Coach Kerr will use in his starting five in Paris, against Australia, Serbia, South Sudan and Germany. Team USA begins Olympic play on July 28, facing Serbia in the first of three group stage matches.
