Arman Tsarukian seems to suggest that Charles Oliveira is one-dimensional.
Tsarukyan (21-3 MMA, 8-2 UFC) will take on former lightweight champion Oliveira (34-9 MMA, 22-9 UFC) at UFC 300 on April 13th at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. do. The main card will air on pay-per-view following the anticipated prelims on ESPN and ESPN+.
Oliveira is the UFC's all-time leader in submission wins. His most recent win was a first-round TKO finish of Beneil Darish at UFC 289. Despite showing off his well-rounded finishing ability, Tsarukyan doesn't seem threatened.
“Charles is good at one thing, and that is getting off his opponent's back and strangling him from that position,” Tsarukyan said in a translated interview with Red Corner MMA. “He's long-limbed, so he's good at taking the back, locking triangles, and finishing submissions. But overall, he's nothing special.”
Oliveira recently scored rear-naked choke finishes on Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje in title fights. Tsarukyan believes that's the only thing to be wary of when it comes to Oliveira's ground game.
“True, he has some tricks when pulling the guard, but nothing special,” Tsarukyan said. “He has a great back-mount game that suffocates everyone. This morning we worked on this type of situation, what to do if you find yourself in a situation like that. But something like this shouldn't happen during combat.”
