ORLANDO – The Orlando Magic are battling after three straight losses that dropped them outside of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
The team faced the Memphis Grizzlies and Portland Trail Blazers, closing within 0.5 games of the fourth seed and just one game behind the third seed.
However, three losses to the Sacramento Kings, Golden State Warriors, and Los Angeles Clippers caused the team to drop from 9th to 10th in CBS Sports' latest power rankings.
CBS Sports wrote, “The Magic lost home games this week to the Warriors and Clippers, but bounced back against the Grizzlies and Blazers.” “Despite the loss, Orlando is still in good position to compete for a top-three seed in the East, although it still sounds weird saying this out loud.”
The Magic remain in the top 10, but are ahead of the New Orleans Pelicans, Phoenix Suns, Milwaukee Bucks, Los Angeles Clippers, Dallas Mavericks, Denver Nuggets, Minnesota Timberwolves, Boston Celtics, and Oklahoma City. Not as good as Thunder.
The Magic continue their quest for the No. 3 seed this week, visiting the Pelicans on Wednesday and the Charlotte Hornets on Friday before returning home to face the Chicago Bulls on Sunday.
