An awards dinner was held at the Winona Athletic Club last September to promote several American Mikido students. Gabby Dunfield, Arexa Larson, Sean Rutten, and April Erdman were awarded certificates of promotion.
The club has also presented a number of black belt awards honoring individual contributions to the club since its inception in 1981. Beginner black belts are Richard Fenkle, Richmond McClure, Philip Schmidt, John Bailey, Justin Stoltman, Larry Bechwaltz, Joshua Huff, and Karsten Kinstler (posthumous).
Thomas Erdmann, Calvin Kinstler, and Jerad Stoltman were awarded Third Degree Black Belts, and Mark Thurman, Steve Ellinghuysen, Terry Rick, Carla Bloom, Tricia Peterson, and Lorne Brinkman were awarded Fourth Degree Black Belts. He was awarded a belt.
Promotions to 5th degree black belt were awarded to Dennis Kinstler, Cordell Kinstler, Kendrick Kinstler (posthumously), Eric Tomaszewski, Nathaniel Wilson, and His Highness. Jeffrey D. Thompson, Dr. Paul Schollmeyer.
The coveted Joe Chia Award was presented to Eric Tomaszewski for his exemplary contribution to the club. American Maikido meets every Tuesday at 5:30pm on his second floor at the Winona Athletic Club. American Maikido focuses on self-defense in his three interaction zones: distance, approach/grapple, and ground. The training curriculum incorporates Christian principles and a safe learning environment. Classes are free for Athletic Club members. We welcome students ages 12 and older.
