More than five years since their last album, American Football has teased new music due for release soon.

Since then, the group has opened for The 1975 in London's Finsbury Park and announced a headline tour of the UK and US this autumn, marking the 25th anniversary of their 1999 debut album, LP1.
The release of new music appears to be imminent, as the band shared a snippet of the track on social media yesterday (July 25th).
The 24-second video slowly pans out from the house at 704 W High Street in Urbana, Illinois, which appears on the cover artwork for both LP1 and its 2016 sequel, LP2.
Last year, American Football revealed it had purchased the building – now known to fans as “American Football House” – “to preserve its status and tradition within the community that built it.”

The preview clip features a gentle, acoustic, country-inspired instrumental, and at the end of the clip, the screen goes dark and the date “07.31.2024” appears, suggesting that the song will be released next Wednesday (July 31).
In the caption, American Football wrote, “Truck 1.” You can watch the video in the post above.

In a four-star review of American Football's 2019 album featuring Paramore's Hayley Williams, NME wrote: “Third time's a charm for American Football. On this follow-up to their 1999 debut, they're even more exploratory, even venturing into jazz territory. They're a reborn band.”
