Former Jacksonville Jaguars kicker Brandon McManus is accused of sexually assaulting two women on a team flight to London last year. BBC The lawsuit, filed anonymously by two flight attendants, reportedly alleges that McManus inappropriately touched two flight attendants on a team flight to London in September 2023.
According to the lawsuit, McManus, 32, was rubbing his body against the women and shaking his hips during a party-like atmosphere on the flight. One of the women claims McManus tried to kiss her while in his seat during turbulence. The lawsuit also accuses the Jaguars organization of “failing to supervise” the kicker and “failing to create a safe environment for personnel serving the team.”
The lawsuit also alleges that McManus invited three other flight attendants to parties, handed out $100 bills and encouraged them to drink alcohol and dance inappropriately. They are seeking more than $1 million in damages and have requested a jury trial.
“While McManus portrays himself as a devoted husband and father on social media, his conduct behind the scenes is consistent with a pattern of sexual assault against women in the NFL,” the lawsuit states.
The Jaguars team said it acknowledged “the importance of the allegations.”
“We are aware of the complaints and recognize the gravity of the allegations. As we continue to investigate this matter, we need to emphasize that we stand by our organization, built by people who represent our community and game with the utmost integrity and class,” the team said in a statement.
Meanwhile, McManus' lawyer, Brett R. Gallaway, said the allegations are “completely false and patently false.”
“These are completely false and demonstrably false allegations made as part of a campaign to smear and disparage a talented and respected NFL player. We will vigorously defend Brandon's rights and integrity and restore his reputation by showing that these allegations are, in fact, an attempt to extort money,” Gallaway said.
It's worth noting that McManus no longer plays for the Jaguars, having signed a £2.8million deal with the Washington Commanders in March this year.
A spokesman for the command said they were informed of the lawsuit on Monday.
“We take these allegations very seriously and are investigating the matter. We have been in contact with league office and Brandon's representatives and will not be making any further comment at this time,” the Commanders said in a statement.
