AMC Entertainment Holdings (AMC) and Comcast Corporation (CMCSA)'s NBCUniversal have announced a deal to air portions of NBC's daytime coverage of the Paris Games in AMC theaters.
The event feed will be sent to 160 AMC locations across the United States from the day after the opening ceremony on July 26th until August 11th. Ticket prices have not been disclosed.
NBC Olympics president Gary Zenkel said “many of the most captivating live moments from Paris” will take place during the afternoon in the U.S., and the company hopes that by allowing fans to watch in theaters, overall enthusiasm for the Olympics will increase. He said that he believes that this will increase.
In addition to the deal with NBC, AMC on Thursday announced a partnership with Zoom Video Communications Inc. (ZM) to offer Zoom Rooms in eight major U.S. markets. The space combines Zoom's “collaboration platform with the comfort of a theater and state-of-the-art visuals and acoustics,” the company said. AMC added that Zoom Rooms can also be used for events such as company news and product release announcements.
Financial considerations for Olympic broadcasts and Zoom Rooms have not been disclosed by AMC.
Shares of AMC Entertainment Holdings, Comcast and Zoom Video Communications fell on Thursday.
