LAS VEGAS – With just over two weeks notice, Alex Pereira and Jiri Prochazka continued their official fight week action on Thursday in preparation for their rematch in the UFC 303 main event that concludes the 12th annual International Fight Week.
After an injury to Conor McGregor forced the cancellation of his original main event bout against Michael Chandler, light heavyweight champion Pereira (10-2 MMA, 7-1 UFC) and former titleholder Prochazka (30-4-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC) stepped up to save the show with a rematch from November's UFC 295. Pereira won by TKO in the second round, but Prochazka protested the cancellation and has been pushing for a rematch ever since.
The two men attended a pre-fight press conference at T-Mobile Arena, where Saturday's fight (ESPN+ pay-per-view, ESPN, ESPN+) will take place. After answering questions from the media, Pereira and Prochazka went head-to-head for the first time this week, and the tension was palpable.
