Mumbai, June 26 (IANS): Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar is ecstatic after a student from his martial arts academy got posted in the Income Tax (IT) department in Mumbai.
Akshay took to Instagram to share a picture in which he can be seen posing with the newly-minted students holding their appointment letters.
The 'Khiladi' of Bollywood said he was “very happy”.
He captioned the photo, “I am very pleased that karate, the martial art that my company teaches, has been recognised as a sports sport.”
“Look at the smiles on the students' faces when they received their appointment letters from the Income Tax department, Mumbai. I felt very emotional and proud,” the actor added.
The 56-year-old star, who is himself trained in several martial arts including karate, taekwondo and Muay Thai, is one of Bollywood's highest-paid actors with a career spanning more than three decades in the industry.
Starting his career with Saugandh in 1991, he has worked in films across genres. He paved his way with the Khiladi series. He went on to star in films like Mohra, Dhakkan, Andaz, Namaste London, Hera Pheri series, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Bhool Bhulaiya, Singh is Kin, Ajnabee and many more. Garam Masala, Holiday, Rowdy Rathore, Kesari, Sooryavanshi – the list goes on.
On June 24, Akshay took part in a tree plantation drive in Mumbai in memory of his late parents, Hari Om Bhatia and Aruna Bhatia.
Going forward, the actor, whose latest work was “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan” opposite Tiger Shroff, will next be seen in “Sarfira”.
The film showcases the journey of Veer Mhatre, whose main goal is to introduce a low-cost airline.
Inspired by the life of G. R. Gopinath, founder of the Indian low-cost airline SimplyFly Deccan, Sarphyra is a remake of the Tamil hit film Soorarai Pottru, starring Suriya.
