AIK competes in Wiregrass Open Martial Arts Championships

Members of Andalusia Isshin-Ryu Karate competed in the Wiregrass Open Martial Arts Championship held on March 30, 2024 at Pike School of Liberal Arts.
Mojukai Karate and Kobudo in Enterprise and Troy, Alabama hosted the event.
Members of the AIK team competed in the Weapons, Kata, and Kumite divisions, winning four first place championships and the Youth Form Grand Championship. This year's Grand Championship Award was a Japanese sword.
Jonathan Rudd placed 1st in Advanced Weapon and Brown Belt Kata and 3rd in Brown Belt Kumite. Ladd was named the youth grade form and weapons grand champion.
Stetson Cook took first place in Beginner Weapons, second place in Yellow Belt Kata, and third place in Yellow Belt Kumite.
Cord Cook placed third in Novice Kumite.
Lawrence Sargent placed first in yellow belt kata, second in yellow belt kumite, and third in beginner weapons. Henry Sargent also competed but did not place. Although Henry was only 4 years old and competed against older children, he represented AIK well.
Andalusia Isshin-Ryu will host the South Alabama Karate Open Tournament on Saturday, June 8th at Strahan High School. Last year's tournament brought together competitors from his 21 martial arts schools from his five provinces in Andalusia.
