How Delicious Ollie Stays Down to Earth
Outside of the ring, Orie is equally unique.
He has a first class degree in economics and is aiming to do a Master's degree once his boxing career is over, which means that although he's ruthless and aggressive when he laces up the boxing gloves, he's also eloquent, humble and intelligent when you talk to him.
Finding the balance between being supremely confident and still staying grounded is something every boxer must find, especially when trying to win the mind game that is so prevalent in the sport.
As an Olympic medal contender, meditation fan Ollie is mindful of this and is doing his best to avoid falling into the trap of overconfidence.
“I'm really on that journey right now and I've been reading a few books to educate myself and become a little more self-aware. I think self-awareness is key,” he continued.
“I think one of the things I have is self-reflection. Sometimes you react in a certain way because of your emotions, your ego or whatever, so it's important to take a step back and reflect on why you reacted that way and what you could have done better. I do that all the time and it helps me stay calm.”
“I also have very close friends and family who keep me grounded and keep me true to myself.”
