damon jackson (22-6-1, 1 NC MMA, 5-4-1, 1 NC UFC) alexander hernandez Featherweight fight at UFC Apex held in Las Vegas on April 6th (14 wins, 7 losses, MMA 6 wins, 6 losses, UFC).
Jackson said Hernandez is tough and has fought a lot of tough opponents and big names.
“He's like 50-50 in terms of whether he has a great fight or not, but sometimes he fails,” Jackson told MMASucka. “No one knows what will happen with Alex, but I have no doubt that he will have a tough fight. I think it will definitely be an important fight for me to win.”
Jackson said he feels “100 percent” that he has the style to dress Hernandez.
“I'm definitely going to put pressure on him 100 percent. I think he's got a really aggressive personality and if he doesn't start, he'll never move forward,” Jackson said. “I think that’s definitely something we can leverage.”
Jackson said he tore his pectoralis muscle just before the game. Pat Sabatini In September 2022, he said it was interfering with his wrestling ability. Jackson defeated Sabatini with ground and pound just over a minute into the first round, but lost the next two matches. Dan Ige and billy quarantillo.
Jackson said his pectoral muscles are in “pretty good shape” and believes his wrestling will be a “huge factor” against Hernandez.
“Wrestling is back and I feel great. I’m really ready to go. I think that’s going to be a big factor that he has to be careful about. I know he’s going to try to build a game plan around that. But if you look at my last few matches, I just can't wrestle. Add that to the mix and I can win Billy fights all day long. Then I got caught by Dan Ige. But it is what it is. I'm ready, dude.”
Jackson said she chose not to have surgery because she would have been completely out of work for six months without surgery. He tore about 80 percent or more of his pectoralis major muscle and began rehabilitation, he said.
“[Doctors] “They said they could repair it as best they could, and if it was torn, they'd have it completely repaired,” he said, adding, “I hope that doesn't happen.”
Jackson is on a two-fight losing streak for the first time in his career, but believes he defeated Quarantillo by unanimous decision.
“Sean Shelby also came back in the room as soon as I finished and said he thought I won the game,” Jackson said. “There's always pressure to win the game. You always have to have a do-or-die mindset. For me, I want to go out and give a great performance myself. I don't really think about getting cut or not being able to participate in the UFC. I only think about winning the fight, because that's what I want. Every fight is important to me. This is the most important thing when fighting. My focus is obviously on winning. ”
Jackson said he is very ready to fight Hernandez.
“I’ll be shocked if it gets to the third round, but I’m ready to roll.”
What is his prophecy?
“I'm going to take him to the ground and then get a sub, of course.”
