BUENOS AIRES (Reuters) – Amid a spate of drug-related violence in Buenos Aires, local media reported that Argentina national team forward Angel Di Maria received threats at his parents' home in the Rosario suburb early on Monday morning. lionel messi I'm also from
The message came a week after Di María, who currently plays for Portuguese champions Benfica, said he wanted to finish his career with his boyhood club Rosario Central.
According to local media reports, the car was delivered to the Di Maria family in front of the private property where the 36-year-old man usually stays. They left a sign saying that the safety of the building could not be guaranteed.
The message reads: “Tell my son Ángel not to come back to Rosario because he will kill his family. Not even Puraro will save you. We will not leave paper notes. We will not leave any bullets or dead people. I will leave it behind,” it read. He told news portal Infobae, citing a police source.
Rosario, home to one of the world's largest agricultural ports, has seen a sharp rise in violence by drug-trafficking groups, as experts say the city could serve as an outlet for illegal drugs to flow abroad.
Rosario-born Argentina captain Lionel Messi was also threatened in a letter last year after unknown gunmen attacked a supermarket owned by his wife Antonella Roccuzzo's family.
The Argentine government announced last week that it would send a bill to Congress that would allow the military to intervene in internal security operations to combat drug trafficking and crime in Rosario.
