The University of Washington's football roster changes all the time, often without much fanfare. A name here and a name there have been added or deleted.
For example, sophomore backup kicker Addison Schrock, a walk-on from Bellingham, Wash., appeared in two games for Husky football, scoring a touchdown in 2022 against Colorado and 2023 against California. was removed from the list after being recorded.
Just over two weeks before Jed Fisch begins spring football practice, the official number of Huskies players stands at 99, a group put together by four different college head coaches.
This is the final installment of four stories exploring existing talent and how it got to Montlake. The current roster breakdown is as follows: Chris Petersen takes five of those players, Jimmy Lake takes care of 17, DeBoer takes 63, and the rest of the contract goes to the newly hired Fisch, who has There are 14 players in the team. There are quite a few additions planned for May, and perhaps some deletions before next season starts.
Of those 14, Fisch added starters junior running back Jonah Coleman, who played extensively at the University of Arizona, junior cornerback Efesians Prysock, sophomore edge rusher Isaiah Ward, and junior defensive tackle Russell Davis. It has produced five second-generation and junior linebackers. Anthony Ward was often used as a reserve or special teams player.
Joining that group is defensive back Jordan Shaw, who played at Indiana last season, transferred to Arizona and signed with UW. Linebacker Brian Parham, transfer to San Jose State University, All-Mountain West honorable mention selection. And defensive lineman Bryce Butler, a transfer from Kansas JC, asked for a scholarship waiver from the Wildcats to follow Fisch to UW.
The six additional players who signed with Arizona as high school rookies and re-signed with Seigaku following their release are quarterback Damond Williams Jr., cornerbacks Rahshawn Clark and Rahim Wright II, wide They are receiver Audric Harris, running back Adam Muhammad, and offensive tackle Justin. Hilkema of “Moose”.
Offensive tackle Michael Watkins is the seventh high school recruit to join the Huskies from Arizona State, but he has not been added to the roster, likely because his scholarship paperwork is not yet official. He would give UW an even number of his 100 players at this time.
Fisch has committed to adding four to five additional veteran offensive linemen during the next transfer portal signing period in May to shore up the Huskies' most understaffed position group.
Perhaps they could use another veteran tight end, linebacker or defensive tackle to fill in those areas, but UW coaches already like the players on the roster. He has indicated that he is not necessarily looking for skill position players.
But Fisch was quite emphatic that he and his staff would never turn down a great player if they wanted to join him, no matter how much talent he had at that particular position. added.
So this new coach is off and running, claiming that 15 percent of the current roster are players he personally brought to Seattle, and the Fish have said Petersen, Lake, and DeBoer are the players he personally brought to Seattle. I feel like I'm ready to integrate them with what they left behind and see where it goes.
