New Richmond senior forward-catcher Langenes and Hudson senior defenseman Breckenmeyer were re-elected to the Wisconsin Hockey Coaches Association All-State team announced March 12 by the WHCA.
Langenes was named first-team in 2023-24 after earning second-team honors as a junior, and Meyer earned second-team honors in 2023-24 after receiving honorable mention in 2022-23. .
Richmond junior Bjorn Barneman was also named to the second team, and Hudson seniors Gannon Blaser and Harry Ross received honorable mention.
Langenes and Barneman helped New Richmond reach the WIAA Division 2 state championship game for the second year in a row, finishing as runner-up this year after winning the state title last season.
Langenes averaged over 1.5 points per game, scoring 15 goals and 23 assists for 38 points. His 23 assists broke the previous record of 95 held by 2004 graduate Dan Bergman and set a new career record with 104 assists. He earned honorable mention to the All-Big Rivers Conference team for the 2023-24 season after earning first-team honors as a junior.
Burneman was the Tigers' leading scorer this season with 24 goals and 24 assists, averaging two points per game. A second-team All-BRC selection, he scored a team-high six goals on the power play and became the 11th player in Tiger history to reach 100 career points (currently at 106 points).
Meyer scored 26 points from the blue line position for the Raiders and earned WHCA All-State honors for the second straight year. His 22 assists were second-most on the team. He was previously named to the All-BRC Second Team for the 2023-24 season.
Hudson scored a team-high 18 goals for the Blazers and added 14 assists for a total of 32 points, while Ross led the Raiders with 36 points, including a team-high 25 assists. Ross was named first-team All-BRC this season, while the Blazers earned second-team honors.
In addition to the players recognized by the WHCA, new Richmond coach John Larson was named Division 2, Section 2 assistant coach of the year along with Amery's Tim Henningsgaard, and Tiger assistant coach Drew Kelly Selected as Division 2, Section 2 assistant coach. -Awarded Coach of the Year with Amelie's Tyler Richison.
River Falls assistant and former head coach Rick Hanson was named Division II, Section III Assistant Coach of the Year, sharing the award with Viroqua's Dave Hettenbach.
Three Spartans named to All-MBC team
Somerset University seniors Wyatt Connors, John Brown and Malachy Driscoll have been named to the 2023-24 All-Middle Border Conference team by conference coaches, with Connors and Brown earning spots on the All-MBC First Team. , Driscoll received an honorable mention.
Connors led the Spartans with 42 points this season, with 14 goals and a team-high 28 assists, including a team-leading four power-play goals and nine power-play assists. This is the second time he has received an All-MBC award after receiving an honorable mention in 2022-23.
Brown had six goals and 15 assists from his blueline position, while Driscoll added a team-high 15 goals and 13 assists for 28 points on the season. This is the first All-MBC honor for both players.
Conference champion Amery's Vincent Green was named MBC Player of the Year and Amery coach Tim Henningsgaard was named Coach of the Year.
