The SEC will continue with eight conference games in 2025, plus one mandatory opponent from the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12 or major independent, the league announced Wednesday.
The SEC is scheduled to play its first season as a 16-team conference this fall with Oklahoma and Texas as members, and the 2025 schedule will be similar to what fans will see this fall. Each school will play the same opponents they are scheduled to play this year, and the locations will be changed to even out home and away games over the two seasons.
“We continue to monitor changes across college sports as they relate to upcoming schedules,” SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey said in a prepared statement. “Continuing with our current format for the 2025 season will allow us additional time to understand the impact of the changes occurring around us as we determine the appropriate long-term plan for our SEC football schedule. ”
The SEC eliminated district standings this fall, so the 2025 season will be the second year in which the SEC title game will be played between the top two teams in the conference standings at the end of the regular season.
The SEC president and chancellor approved the 2025 schedule last week after recommendations from the league's athletic directors. The opponents and venues for 2025 are as follows:
