Columbus High School boys soccer hosted Grand Island in Columbus High School's first night soccer game.
It was a heated game with many shots, and the match went into overtime with a scoreless stalemate.
After a tense first overtime, Grand Island scored the decisive goal in the 95th minute for a 1-0 victory.
“I thought we played really well and I'm really happy with their effort,” Discoverers head coach John Alt said. “All credit goes to Grand Island, but we were once again “We played really well. Discoverers women's soccer earned its second straight shutout victory with a 3-0 win over Norfolk on Tuesday.
Columbus junior Abby Haynes scored her second goal of the game and junior Kinsey Shemek scored her first goal of the season. Junior Charlie Playster and sophomore Molly Gock each had one assist. Senior Jordyn Trotta saved seven shots for the Panthers.
The Discoverers entered a three-game homestand with a 2-1 record. The next game is Thursday vs. Lincoln Pius X.
