The 38th Annual Rotary All-Star Hockey Game was held on Saturday, March 16th at the Essex Skating Facility in Essex, Vermont.
Women's matches: In the Austin Conference, BFA-St. Louis coached women's game, Albans assistant coach Chelsea Forsyth defeated Harris 5-3.
Ray Alexander of BFA St. Louis Albans was named the Austin team's Most Valuable Player. Alexander scored Austin's first goal in the first period with an assist from Bry Jarvis. Alexander scored his second goal unassisted late in the period. In the second period, Mishquoi Valley Union's Emily Airoldi scored and Brooke-Lynn Choiniere assisted. BFA-St. Albans Comets goaltender McKenna Montgomery took nine shots while finding the back of the net.
Comets coach Luke Cioffi shared his thoughts on watching Forsyth, a Comets hockey alumnus, return for a second time as a head coach in the Austin Conference.
“The Comet hockey program is blessed to have many former student-athletes returning to work with our team. Chelsea is a prime example of what it means to be a Comet. . We are extremely proud of Chelsea and her contributions to the community,” said Cioffi.
“I truly enjoy watching Chelsea share her love and passion with her players, whether she's coaching on the ice, coaching students on choosing the right college, or simply interacting with the players. Chelsea gives a lot to our team, even when it comes to making contact.”
Cioffi said of Forsyth's contributions to St. Albans hockey: Not only does she help our team, but she also helps SASA as a special hockey team coach, board member, and women's director! ”
Mr. Cioffi also spoke about Forsyth's dedication to the youth of the community. She is the ultimate team player for our community. She is so proud to represent the Comet family every day! I couldn't be more excited to be a part of her journey. She is a huge contributor to the success of our community both on and off the ice!”
Men's match: In the men's game, also played on March 16, the Austin Conference defeated the Harris Conference, 7-4. Albans Bobwhites goalie Deegan Rathburn had five shots on goal and made four saves.
