The new Prairie Lakes Ice Arena will host the inaugural Watertown Warm-Up Men's Recreational Hockey Tournament this weekend, March 23rd and 24th.
Five teams are scheduled to play against each other in games starting at 11 a.m. Saturday. Five games are scheduled for Saturday and three games are scheduled for Sunday.Sunday's game begins at 9 a.m.
Three of the teams are from Watertown: The Steamrollers, Champs Kraken Beers and The Other Guys. The remaining two teams will compete from Huron and Aberdeen. There is no admission fee for spectators.
Tournament organizer Adam Sullivan told KXLG News that many former Watertown Hockey Association players will be returning to the tournament.
Sullivan said the event is a great opportunity for area residents to watch a game for free at a new, premier hockey venue.
There will also be a meet-and-greet for players and their loved ones on Saturday night at Second Street Station with a free taco bar and free first drink.
Proceeds from tournaments and social will be put to good use, Sullivan said.
Sullivan said Watertown hasn't had an adult hockey tournament in years, but he plans to make the Watertown Warm-up an annual event.
