Conor McGregor has revealed he received a call from the UFC about his long-awaited return.
McGregor has not fought since July 2021, when he suffered a devastating first-round TKO loss to Dustin Poirier (doctor stoppage).
He broke his ankle in the main event bout at UFC 264, but has recovered and is off to a good start, sharing clips from training camp.
However, McGregor has expressed his dissatisfaction with Dana White and no date has yet been set for his return to the UFC.
However, the 35-year-old's comeback is finally starting to take off and he could be returning to the famous Octagon relatively soon.
He told ESPN that he will return to action this summer against Michael Chandler.
The exact date and event are still unknown, but it could be June 29th for UFC 303.
“We got confirmation a few days ago that all systems are working properly,” said McGregor, who is currently promoting his first acting gig in the film “Road House.”
He added, “And 'The Mack' and 'The Notorious' will be returning to the UFC Octagon this summer.”
McGregor returns to fight Chandler, who recently called out the Irishman on WWE Monday Night Raw.
The former two-time UFC champion said: “Shut up, Michael, you motherfucker.
“The man won't shut up. I saw him on Raw. I love Mike – I'll crush him. I'll crush Mike, right? If I say it, I'll do it…I If I say it, it will come true. Lay it on my stone.”
McGregor has lost two fights in a row after losing to Poirier. He hasn't won a UFC contest since drubbing Donald Cerrone at UFC 246 in January 2020.
As for Chandler, he is coming off a submission loss to Poirier at UFC 281.
