The Queensland Government has denied speculation it is considering canceling the 2032 Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Scrutiny of cities' ability and willingness to host global sporting events intensified this week after Prime Minister Stephen Miles ignored key recommendations in a review of tournament infrastructure.
The review, led by former Brisbane mayor Graham Quirk, calls for a new $3.4 billion stadium to be built at Victoria Park in the city centre.

Mr Miles said on Monday that instead 16 Selected a billion dollar project.
The Gabba's rebuild has been rejected in a report, leaving Queenslanders without a new, high-capacity stadium to enjoy for decades after the games are over.
Critics have criticized Miles' decision as short-sighted, made to appease those concerned about tournament costs rather than other public infrastructure improvements.
Some in the community are calling for the Olympics to be canceled altogether.
Mr Miles denied that the Cabinet had sought advice on canceling the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
“We have always said Queensland will deliver a great Games,” the Prime Minister's Office said on Wednesday.
“The government never intended to cancel the Olympics.”
