Former UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland slammed both Jon Jones and Cool McGregor in a recent interview.
Although Strickland is no longer a champion, he has emerged as one of the biggest names in the current UFC landscape, amassing a large fan base who enjoys his bravado and lack of filter.
Mr. Strickland is never one to hold back and is happy to voice his opinion regardless of the consequences or awkward situations it may cause. This includes going after his two biggest stars in MMA.
When asked by The Schmo about Jones, Strickland had a straightforward answer about the current heavyweight champion.
“At the end of the day, dude. Jon Jones is shit. I know it, the whole world knows it. No need to repeat his past, he needs to buckle up and fight Aspinall. “There is,” Strickland said.
Strickland was then asked about McGregor and whether the Irishman will make his long-awaited return later this year after months of endless rumors and doubts.
“I don't know…are we really concerned about Conor McGregor these days? He's been out of it, he's been out of it,” Strickland said. “Do we really still care about Conor McGregor, does he still have a name in the UFC? He should get on a yacht and retire.”
What's next for Sean Strickland?
Strickland was stripped of his middleweight title after a close loss to Doricus du Plessis in January. Some onlookers may realize that even if the American wins this fight, he will still be number one in the middleweight rankings.
It's unclear exactly what will happen next, but Strickland's next fight could be a title fight or a number one contender fight, possibly a rematch with Israel Adesanya. There is sex.
