TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – The first boxing match of Taiwan's first professional pugilist league will begin on Friday (March 22).
On January 9, Taiwan Martial Arts Corporation announced the establishment of Taiwan's first ever professional boxing association, “Carry Fighting Championship'' (CFC League). Philippine boxing champion Manny Pacquiao serves as honorary chairman.
On Monday (March 18), the organization revealed on its Facebook page that the first matches will be held in Taipei on Friday and Saturday (March 22 and 23).
Slugfest will be held at Legacy Max on the 6th floor of Shin Kong Mitsukoshi A11 store in Xinyi District, Taipei City. On Friday, doors open for ticket holders at 6 p.m., and the event begins at 7 p.m. and ends at 10 p.m.
That night, the CFC League will feature three exhibition matches between six contracted professional boxers, two in the 58 kg (130 lb) weight class and one in the 63 kg (140 lb) weight class. It will also include a single-elimination tournament between eight amateur boxers in the 75 kg (165 lb) weight class, with the champion winning an undisclosed prize.
Saturday's brawl is scheduled to begin for ticket holders at 3:30 p.m., kick off at 4 p.m., and last until 7:30 p.m. The day's competition, CFC Street, will feature two single-elimination tournaments between eight amateur boxers. The 67 kg (147 lb) and 60 kg (132 lb) weight classes offer the chance to compete for cash prizes.
