New Delhi: Professional boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. said Monday that he is keen to take part in an exhibition fight in India this year and cannot rule out the possibility that the host country could be his opponent. The 47-year-old former boxing champion boasts a perfect record of 50-0 on the pro circuit, including 27 knockouts.

“It is possible. We are looking forward to holding an exhibition here in 2024. We are looking for solid names as solid opponents,” Mayweather told PTI over phone from Mumbai. “I'm confident we'll find the right opponent. It's all about taking things to the next level. We have great talent here so anything is possible,” he added.
Asked if he would be open to fighting a challenger from India, Mayweather answered in the affirmative. “I have a team and they take their time and do their homework and choose the best opponent. You never know who your opponent is going to be. Maybe he's Indian, American, British or Japanese. It could be people. That’s all we are.’ We want to put on a show for people.” ”

The American fighter, who has 15 major world championship titles, retired in 2017 but has competed in several exhibition matches since then.
