Gürshum Tatar, 39, is a world and European boxing champion and is looking to reach the pinnacle of his career with another victory.
Born in Kars in 1985, Gürsum started boxing at the age of 16 under the guidance of his uncle and older brother, who were both boxers themselves.
The Turkish boxer, who boasts an impressive record of 17 national championships, 7 European Cups and titles, and 4 World Cups and titles, is preparing for the next European Championship in Serbia.
The event is scheduled to be held at the Kastamonu Olympic Preparation Training Center from April 14th to 23rd.
Tatar told Anadolu Agency (AA) that she wants to add more medals to her collection and that her family has been very involved in her boxing journey.

But the pandemic interrupted her plans to fight overseas.
Having had her 3 1/2-year-old son during the pandemic, she felt it would be more practical to continue boxing as an amateur in the country. As a result, she decided to return to amateur boxing.
She recalls that when she started boxing, it was not included in the Olympic category and considers that to be her biggest misfortune.
