For the Glory KC is back with episode 76 of the show!
There's no better place to start this week than with the historic opening of KC Current and CPKC Stadium. A sold-out crowd of 11,500 turned out for a thrilling victory over the Portland Thorns. The final score of 5-4 almost ruined an otherwise perfect first day (well, Debinha got injured). But they won!
Sheena got tickets for opening day with a fan's perspective, and I provided a behind-the-scenes view of the stadium, including the media room and press box. From the fan experience to the atmosphere, food and transportation options, opening day was a huge success. minimal defects.
And of course, we'll be talking about thrilling soccer with five different goal scorers, including Vanessa DiBernardo, who will be the first player to score in the stadium forever. She was joined by rookie Ellie Wheeler, new addition Bea, KC's returning champion Kristen Hamilton, and another rookie, Alex Pfeiffer, the youngest goalscorer in NWSL history. Although he didn't score, Temwa Chawinga made an immediate impact, Lo Labonta was all over the place and 18-year-old newcomer Claire Hutton anchored the midfield.

It's inevitable that we'll discuss the four goals scored, and we'll see if it's a worrying trend or just world-class play from a few of Portland's superstars.
Not to be left out of this great weekend is undefeated Sporting Kansas City. They saved the monkeys against the San Jose earthquake, so “you can't win” no longer applies. Robert Volodar made a surprise start in place of the injured Andreu Fontas. There were goals from set pieces on both sides, Remi Walter returned from injury and Alan Pulido returned from obscurity.
