Dillian Whyte made an explosive return to boxing, stopping Christian Hammer in three rounds in his first fight since November 2022.
Whyte received a positive drug test recorded ahead of his scheduled fight with Anthony Joshua in August last year, after it was revealed that the cause was due to contaminated supplements. Cleared to resume his career, White always maintained his innocence.
The 35-year-old, who fought in Castlebar, Ireland, on St Patrick's Day, quickly defeated the Hammers after his Romanian-born rival was eliminated before the fourth round.
White landed numerous body shots in the opening round and continued to boss the fight for the final three minutes.
The Brixton fighter was a little wild in the third round, but it was hurt by Hammer's failure to return from losses to Joe Joyce, Tyson Fury, Hughie Fury and Luis Ortiz, 27-11. It seems so.
Whyte's only losses came to Tyson Fury, Alexander Povetkin and Joshua, bringing his professional record to 30-3.
Whyte avenged his five-round loss to Povetkin in August 2020 and won the pair's rematch a year later by stopping the Russian in four rounds.
The Briton snapped a winning streak with Sunday's victory over the Hammers, following his majority decision victory over Jermaine Franklin at Wembley Arena 16 months ago.
talk to sky sports Before meeting with Hammer, White said: “I want to try for another world title, that’s my goal.
“I've done pretty much everything there is to do in boxing. I've been through the good times and the bad times. I just need to win a world title and that will be the crowning glory.”
Whyte faced Fury for the WBC belt in April 2022, but was stopped in six rounds.
