Bishop Manogue High School senior forward Ella Hallert announced Sunday that she has verbally committed to play soccer at her hometown school, the University of Nevada.
A three-year varsity player entering his senior season, Hallert hit his stride during his junior year, recording 29 goals and nine assists in 16 games. He ranks 14th among Nevada high school soccer players in goals and finished with 67 points on the season, eighth-most in the state. Hallert helped Bishop Manogue win the regular season Sierra League title with a 15-7-2 record overall and 8-1-1 draw in league play.
Manogue was ranked No. 8 in Nevada and No. 543 in the nation last season, according to MaxPreps. The Miners lost to McQueen in the Northern 4A district final and to Foothill in the state semifinals. Hallert was named the Northern 4A Sierra League Offensive Player of the Year last season as voted on by coaches.
The 5-foot-4 Hallert played in 16 games her sophomore and freshman years, scoring four goals in 2022 and 13 goals in 2023. She also recorded six assists in those seasons. She has 46 goals, 15 assists and 107 points in her three-year varsity career. Hallert plans to play one more year at Bishop Manogue before graduating and joining Nevada head coach Vanessa Valentine in her second year with the Wolfpack in 2024.
Nevada's class of 2024 includes three local players: D Lauren Muff (Galena High School), D Bailey Rozier (Douglas High School) and F Riley Husted (Reed High School). Muff is a fifth-year senior, while Rozier and Husted are transfer students from Truckee Meadows Community College in Reno. Rozier made her debut at Nevada last season and Husted is in her first season with the Wolfpack.
