But then the shocking statement came! Sonnen claimed that Jake Paul has a better boxing record than Canelo Alvarez and Conor McGregor. “Ever since Jake started criticizing Canelo and McGregor, in fights they've won and lost, Jake has performed better than Canelo and McGregor separately or combined.” The former UFC fighter said:
In 2021, Jake Paul added Canelo Alvarez and Conor McGregor to his hit list. Since then, Canelo has only suffered one loss in his career against light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol and has defended his undisputed super middleweight status against elite boxers such as Gennady Golovkin and Jermell Charlo. McGregor, on the other hand, has been out of action since losing two straight bouts to Dustin Poirier in 2021 and breaking his leg in a rematch with “The Diamond.” Meanwhile, “Problem Child” boasts a 10-1 record in boxing, with his only loss coming against Tommy Fury in 2023. Most of his bouts have come against retired MMA fighters or semi-retired boxers.
Additionally, Sonnen was impressed with how Jake Paul lost 38 pounds in preparation for his fight with Mike Perry, and the 47-year-old analyst argued that Canelo or Conor McGregor would never lose that much weight for a fight. “You're never going to see Canelo cut 38 pounds to fight somebody. You're never going to see Conor cut 38 pounds to fight somebody.” Sonnen pointed this out, emphasizing that it's not ridiculous for Jake Paul to criticize such elite fighters.
However, before he fights Conor or Canelo, Paul will face off against “the baddest man on the planet,” Mike Tyson.
